Surviving Is Beautiful...Views: 350

for so many reasons, but most recently for me, the beauty of it has been the chance to share a bond with other survivors. I don’t normally announce to people that I am a cancer survivor, but it seems that recently I’ve had more occasions in which to speak with people who are in varying stages of their survivorship.

As soon as I say the words, “I’m also a cancer survivor”, it’s amazing how quickly the tone of the conversation usually changes. I think it’s cathartic on both sides to know you’re speaking with someone who gets you to some degree. It doesn’t matter if you have the same kind of cancer, have gone through similar treatments, or even really know the person very well. The conversations always have the same comfortable tone, and end the same way.

“God bless you.”
“I’ll be thinking of you.”
or just,
“Take care of yourself.”

Since I’m usually on the phone, it’s a bit of a faceless hug, but a hug none the less, and a brighter spot in each day.

Tonight I’m thinking of all of you and sending a hug to you. God bless, and take care of yourself!

Hi SB,
Just to let you know that I am Breast Cancer Survivor of 2 years as June 22, each year I feel
better and better.
I feel that bonding with others like our selves,
helps us to understand we are not alone.

Hug
