for so many reasons, but most recently for me, the beauty of it has been the chance to share a bond with other survivors. I don’t normally announce to people that I am a cancer survivor, but it seems that recently I’ve had more occasions in which to speak with people who are in varying stages of their survivorship. As soon as I say the words, “I’m also a cancer survivor”, it’s amazing how quickly the tone of the conversation usually changes. I think it’s cathartic on both sides to know you’re speaking with someone who gets you to some degree. It doesn’t matter if you have the same kind of cancer, have gone through similar treatments, or even really know the person very well. The conversations always have the same comfortable tone, and end the same way. “God bless you.” Since I’m usually on the phone, it’s a bit of a faceless hug, but a hug none the less, and a brighter spot in each day. Tonight I’m thinking of all of you and sending a hug to you. God bless, and take care of yourself! SB

Sometimes, I’m not sure if I have the right words to encourage, support, and help those of you who are going through some incredible trials right now. I found a quote, though, that I really wanted to pass along. I hope it helps someone: Be gentle with yourself. -Max Ehrmann We all go through the ups and downs of life, cancer. May you find some plce, someone, something, some part of that life that brings you peace along your journey. SB Thank you for the wonderful words. “We need to take care of each other” Hugs Sherri

I’m going to do a little bit of sharing of resources.. I hope it is okay to do so here. These are just really great websites that I’ve found along the way that are great for Cx as well as other cancer survivors, and I keep going back to them. The first is the NCCC’s website. This is the National Cervical Cancer Coalition’s website, and right now they’re promoting a conference they they’re holding in LA in October. http://nccc-online.org/community/los_angeles_conference.html The second is a website for anyone who has had a hysterectomy – cancer related or not. It’s called “HysterSistes” and it really works to remind women that they are women first and foremost – no matter what! http://www.hystersisters.com/ And finally, one that has just been a source of great inspiration for me. This guy is a true survivor, and is really honest about the journey. He has his ups and downs, and I seriously want to meet him and give him a hug: http://www.npr.org/blogs/mycancer/ I found HysterSister just the other day! It has already helped me quite a bit! It has been a relief and comfort to find these different websites where we can connect with others. Thanks for sharing!
